Do you own Presonus Studio 24c or have you had a chance to try it?

Overall impression

Cons: 1. I have installed the Universal Control software on Windows 10 Home 64-bit. But when I have started it I just got a blank window :O So the first thing that I did after registering my interface was to send a ticket to the Support team about it. It is explained in the manual that the Universal Control is a “powerful tool” for configuration. I would say it is a powerless tool because I had to configure the interface through the standard Windows controls :) Because of this I didn’t have any intention to install Studio One Artist or any other software because I didn’t want to write any more tickets to the Support team :| 2. When you install the Universal Control with the default options it installs all the possible drivers for all PreSonus interfaces (usb, firewire, thunderbolt, io, etc). Of course, Cubase listed them all so I had to try them manually one by one just to find that only 1-2 of them were working. So the next time when I re-installed Universal Control I just enabled only the working ones. Still, I expected a smarter solution by PreSonus. 3. The Mixer knob is practically useless. I thought that if you set it to balanced position (in the middle) you will hear both Inputs and Playback to 100% volume. But no! Instead, you hear 50% Inputs/50% Playback so the level of both is quite low. Even if you set all volumes (of headphones, mics, players, system, etc) to 100% almost nothing is heard :( If you record a voice one possible solution would be to set the Mixer knob to 80% Inputs/20% Playback but still you could hardly hear any of them. 4. Because of the above it is practically senseless to use any hardware monitoring. A possible workaround would be to set the Mixer knob to 0% Inputs/100% Playback and to use software monitoring instead. Choose a nice recording program (for example Adobe Audition or another) and enable the software monitoring for a certain channel. The recording volume will be high enough ;) Pros: 1. If you are using a software monitoring you will realize that both pre-amplifiers are quite good and provide a crystal-clear sound. The quality of the recorded files is very high! 2. The ASIO driver is good too and provides a relatively low latency if you set the buffer size to 128KB (or lower). This is quite important because you will be using software monitoring most if the time :) Conclusion: Presonus Studio 24c is a fine interface for its price but don’t expect too much. EDIT: Just to tell you that the Support team have closed the ticket I have created just like that without doing anything about it ;) Enough about Presonus.
